Abstract

A field experiment consisting of 24 treatment combinations of four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40, 60 kg/ha) and three levels of Zinc (0, 2.5 and 5.0kg Zn/ha) and two level of FYM (0 and10 t FYM/ha) was conducted with two consecutive years from 2007-08 and 2008-09 with three replications under Factorial Randomized Block Design at Bhachau-Kachchh to study the effect of S and Zn with and without FYM on yield and yield attributes of mustard. Application of 60kg S/ha and 5.0kg Zn/ha along with 10t FYM/ha significantly increased the yield attributes and yield of mustard as compared to control but it was at par with the application of 40kg S/ ha and 5.0kg Zn/ha along with 10t FYM/ha and maximum economic benefits of gross realization, net realization along with highest BCR of 4.84:1.

Abstract

A field experiment consisted of 24 treatment combinations of three levels of phosphorus(0, 20, 40 kg ha^-1) and three levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40 kg ha^-1) and two level of biofertilizer in form of Rhizobium inoculation (inoculated and uninoculated) was conducted with four consecutive years from 2007-08 to 2010-11 were tested with three replications effect of under factorial Randomized Block Design at Bhachau-Kachchh to study the effect of P, S and Rhizobium on productivity and fertility of soil after harvest of moongbean. The soil of the experiment field was sand loamy with alkaline in reaction, low in nitrogen, sulphur and zinc, medium in phosphorus and potassium. Application of 40 kg P ha^-1 and 40 kg S ha^-1 along with Rhizobium inoculation significantly increased the productivity of moongbean and improved the nutrient availability of soil at harvest of crop over the control. Maximum economic benefits of gross realization, net realization along with highest BCR of 6.73:1 under the treatment combination P₂S₂R₁.

Abstract

A survey of quality of irrigation water was carried out by Agriculture Research Station, S. D. Agricultural University, Bhachau- Kachchh during 2009-10. Total 369 water samples were collected from 10 different talukas of Kachchh district for assessment of quality of irrigation water. RSC of most of water sample were observed safe (88.89%), only 5.15 and 5.96 per cent sample were categorized under marginal and unsafe. RSC level was in order. Mundra > Mandvi > Bhuj. Chloride concentration of Kachchh district water samples were observed in order Mandvi > Gandhidham > Mundra > Bhachau > Rapar. Soluble salt was observed in order Mundra > Rapar > Mandvi > Gandhidham > Abdasa. In case of sodium hazard Mundra > Mandvi > Abdasa.

Abstract

Application of 40kg S/ha and 5.0 kg Zn/ha along with 10 t FYM/ha produced significantly higher yield and affected the physical properties of soil at harvest of crop over the control but it was at par with the application 40kg S/ha and 5.0kg Zn/ha along with 10t FYM/ha. Maximum economic benefits of gross realization, net realization along with highest BCR of 4.44:1was obtained with F₁S₂Zn₂ treatment.

Abstract

A field experiment consisting of five different modules among three organic module, one chemical module and control was conducted during Kharif season from 2009-10 to 2014-15 with five quadrates in each module (2m×2m) under Randomized Block Design at Regional Research Station, SDAU, Bhachau, Kachchh to study the effect of different modules on yield and yield attributes of greengram grown on light textured soil of Kachchh. The results of the experiments differed significantly. The significant improvement in yield attributes and yield was recorded with the chemical module T₄. Organic modules T₂ and T₃ recorded the highest growth improvement and yield as compared to control.

Abstract

Cluster bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.] which is locally known as "guara" belongs to the family Fabaceae. It is hardy crop and its cultivation is suitable for rainfed, low fertility soil conditions. A field experiment consisting of five different modules was conducted during Kharif season from 2009-10 to 2014-15 with five quadrates in each module (2m×2m) under Randomized Block Design at Regional Research Station, SDAU, Bhachau, Kachchh to study the effect of different modules on yield and yield attributes of cluster bean grown on light textured soil of Kachchh. Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Bhachau in 2001-02, 2003-04, and 2005-06 on sandy loam soils of Kachchh. In this experiment eight treatment combinations comprising of organic and inorganic fertilizers were compared i.e. (T₁) : FYM 15 t/ha, (T₂) : FYM 7.5t/ha + 40 kg N/ha, (T₃) : castor cake 2 t/ha, (T₄) : castor cake 2 t/ha+ 40 kg N/ha, (T₅) : FYM 7.5 t/ha + castor cake 2 t/ha, (T₆) : seed treatment with Azotobacter + 60 kg N/ha, (T₇) : gypsum 5 t/ha + 80 kg N/ha and (T₈) : 80 kg N/ha alone. Pooled data of three years showed that seed treatment with Azotobacter + 60 kg N/ha recorded significantly higher seed yield (1513.9 kg/ha), straw yield (2875.0 kg/ha) and net return (Rs 8345.44/ha) of bajra over all the treatment combinations.

Abstract

A study was undertaken to assess the status of available major nutrients in soils of Kachchh district of Gujarat. About Forty representative surface (0-15 cm) soil samples were collected from farmer’s field of each taluka. The soil samples were analysed for pH, EC, organic carbon, available N, P₂O₅ and K₂O. Soils of Kachchh district are mildly alkaline to moderately alkaline in reaction (pH_2.5 8.14) with low soluble salt content (EC 0.57 dS/m).The organic carbon status of soils of Kachchh district was low (0.35%). The available N, P₂O₅ and K₂O content in these soils ranged from 62.72 to 392.00, 16.81 to 116.58 and 107.52 to 954.24 kg/ ha with a mean value of 193.93, 41.85 and 330.86 kg/ha, respectively. On the basis of nutrient index value, soils of Kachchh district were very low in available nitrogen, marginal in available phosphorus and high in available potassium status. Highly significant and positive correlation was observed between organic carbon with available nitrogen (r=0.842**). Available P₂O₅ showed negative correlation with pH (r=-0.066) and EC (r=-0.011). Available N (r=0.178**) and O.C. (r=0.193**) have highly significantly and positively correlation with pH.

Experiment consisted of five different modules among three were organic modules, one was chemical module and control, under Randomized Block Design. The results of the experiments differed significantly. The significant improvement in yield attributes and yield was recorded with the chemical module T₄. In organic modules T₂ and T₃ recorded the highest growth improvement and yield as compared to control. Modules T₂ and T₃ also recorded the good nutrient content and uptake. Available nutrients in the soil after harvest were best in the organic modules (T₂ and T₃) maintained the soil physico-chemical properties by reducing the soil bulk density.

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out on effect of different modules on yield, nutrient uptake and physico-chemical properties of soil after harvest of cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.) at Regional Research Station, SDAU, Bhachau, Kachchh under Randomized BlockDesign. The experiment was consisting of five different modules among three are organic modules, one chemical module and control. The results of the experiments are differed significantly. The significant improvement in yield was recorded with the chemical module T₄. In organic modules T₂ and T₃ recorded the more yield as compared to control. Modules T2 and T3 also recorded the good nutrient content and uptake. Available nutrients in the soil after harvest are best in the organic modules T₂ and T₃.
